We'll begin this process by learning what a phoneme is and how we can begin to represent these different phonemes in the form of mouth expressions for character lip syncing. From there we'll draw out ten essential mouth expressions. Each mouth expression will represent one or multiple phonemes. Finally, we'll finish by taking some of our mouth expressions and organize them into a sequence to sound out a couple of words. By having an understanding of these basic mouth expressions and the sounds that they each represent, you will be able to achieve more accurate and effective lip syncing with your characters whether your animation is 2d, 3d, very simple, or complex.
